SESSION PM205

Postage Meters: IMI Compliance and What You Need to Know

Intelligent Mail Indicia (IMI) was introduced in 2015 to ensure that postal service receives frequent postage use information to better manage mail flow. The USPS is decertifying all Information Based Indicia (IBI) postage meters by June 30, 2024. The new devices must be Intelligent Mail Indicia (IMI) compliant. This session will discuss current IBI devices that cannot be retrofitted and will need to be replaced with alternative solutions. Future devices will need to be constantly connected to the internet vs. only at the time of refill. It is estimated that up to 70% of the postage meters in the United States will not meet this new standard and will need to be replaced and we must all be cognizant of potential supply chain issues affecting availability of the new equipment, so don’t miss out or be caught in the dark!
