Many mail centers are currently under significant pressure to enhance productivity. This must be achieved even as they are tasked with operating in smaller spaces and with reduced staff numbers. This session explores the latest emerging trends and technological advancements in university mail centers. Its main objective is to highlight a range of processes and services that mail centers can adopt to optimize their operations. By implementing these advancements, mail centers can reduce their physical footprint, lower operational costs, and simultaneously increase both revenue and the quality of services provided. Several of the processes and pieces of equipment discussed have been pioneered and successfully implemented by East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in their mail center.

As the mail and shipping industries continue to change with technology evolving and new organizations emerging, it is important to reconsider the global perspectives that are found within the PMBOK Guide.
