SS305: Advancements in Mail Screening and State of the Art Technologies

The evolution of mail screening processes and the supporting technologies and how they have progressed in response to new emerging mail-borne threats. The anthrax attacks of 2001, and the mail screening industry’s response, clearly illustrated gaps in our ability to rapidly recognize and defend against mail-borne threats. Advances in technology have improved our detection capabilities, however, based on this year’s events, 17 years later, our ability to identify mail-borne threats is still an issue. We will examine the history of screening technology, how screening processes have evolved since that time, and how advancements in today’s technology are enhancing our ability to rapidly respond to new and changing threats.
